The month of March is packed with Classical Music performances, as concert halls such as the Shanghai Grand Theatre and Shanghai Symphony Orchestra Hall have lined up the following four weeks with renditions of some of histories greatest compositions. The Shanghai Symphony Orchestra are hosting a night of classic opera — for those on the hunt for a refined evening. Lecturer Han Bin will be performing Mascagni's 'Cavalleria Rusticana - Intermezzo', Puccini’s 'Suor Angelica - Intermezzo', and Bizet’s 'Carmen - Overture'.
Fans of the opera will be interested in an upcoming concert conducted by the Shanghai Symphony Orchestra (SSO). The orchestra will be playing pieces from three European operas: Pietro Mascagni's 'Cavalleria Rusticana - Intermezzo', Giacomo Puccini's 'Suor Angelica - Intermezzo', and Georges Bizet's 'Carmen - Overture'. Shenyang, Hongni Wu and the Polaris Quartet put on an evening of song and music. The Polaris Quartet from the SSO is collaborating with choristors Shengyang (the bass-baritone) and Hongni Wu (the mezzo-soprano) for an evening of renditions. Hongni Wu and the quartet will be playing Respighi's 'Il Tramonto', and Shengyang will lead the four in Samuel Barber's 'Dover Beach', Ned Rorem's 'Mourning Scene' as well as Arvo Pärt's 'Summa' and 'Ein Wallfahrtslied'. Together, the eight trained performers will play Chen Xiaoyong's 1984 'Piano Quintet', György Ligeti's 'Trio for Violin, Horn and Piano', Jean-Michel Defaye's 'Alpha', Francis Poulenc's 'Sonata for Clarinet and Bassoon' and Jean Françaix's 'Octet'. To commemorate the 110th anniversary of famous composer Gustav Mahler’s death, Suzhou Symphony Orchestra will be playing at the Shanghai Grand Theater this March. In this concert, conductor Xu Zhong and famous soprano singer Song Yuanming will lead the Suzhou Symphony Orchestra to bring Mahler's two symphonic works, Mahler's first symphony "giant" and his fourth symphony, to life. The prices for the event differentiate in accordance to seating location.
Commemorating the 110th anniversary of Austro-Bohemian composer Gustav Mahler, the Suzhou Symphony Orchestra will be holding a concert on March 28. The orchestra's conductor Xu Zhong and soprano singer Song Yuanming will lead the night, bringing to life two of Mahler's symphony's from his Wunderhorn period: 'Symphony No.1' and 'Symphony No. 4'.
