Yellow Mountain and Hongcun village are a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Yellow Mountain (Huangshan) is well known for its scenery, sunsets, peculiarly-shaped granite peaks, Huangshan pine trees, hot springs and views of the clouds from above. Huangshan is a frequent subject of traditional Chinese paintings and literature, as well as modern photography. The architecture and carvings of Hongcun village dating back to the Ming and Qing Dynasties are said to be among the best of their kind in China. Scenes from the film Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon were filmed on location in Hongcun.
