L'Atelier de Joel Robuchon is the latest link in French chef Joel Robuchon's fine dining chain. The restaurant, by the self-appointed "Chef of the Century" and holder of the most Michelin stars (if one cares about that kind of thing), is faithful to Robuchon's exacting standards, but formulaic and soulless. For 1,388rmb (plus 10% service), the seven-course tasting menu runs through Robuchon's Greatest Hits. Diners are the rich and powerful, looking to impress.
