This is the physical space for byyb.radio ("表演一波 –“just perform”), an online and offline music platform that blends music with local culture, preserves Shanghai's music culture, and creates bridges between local and international music scenes. From this four-sqm roadside window right in the hood on Changle Lu, they broadcast and archive music from local, national, and international DJs and live acts. The music programming is eclectic - "diverse sounds that challenge and delight – we showcase the full spectrum." On weekends, they broadcast from this space and sometimes step out to do pop-up livestreams at other locations including clubs, restaurants, and even Yu Garden and the banks of the Huangpu River. When there’s livestreams/podcasts in the space, it’s a great place to hang out and meet people from Shanghai’s music and creative scene, and sometimes turns into a street party situation. There’s a small fridge with beers available to buy as well. The platform is one of the city’s most vital cultural and community platforms, and they’re guided by a belief that good music should not be kept underground and a desire to make music accessible to everyone.
