Beernanza Gets Postponed As Permission For Street Party Withdrawn

Jun 2, 2020 | 12:35 Tue
Ouch. That's gotta sting. Beernanza, Shanghai's most prolific beer festival of the last few years, has had to postpone its scheduled resurrection this weekend as the government apparently decided it wasn't okay with closing off a 500 meter stretch of Cool Docks real estate at Wharf 1846 for suds and music. At present, they don't know where and when they'll be coming back, as they're discussing with the authorities about a "new format." Full statement and details on how to redeem the coupons you've probably received (they hand out a lot) after the jump.

Dear Beernanza supporters,

We regret to inform you that Beernanza is currently on hold and will not be held this weekend.

The government decided to withdraw its support for this weekend because of the public disturbance blocking half a kilometer street would create.

We are actively working with the government to find a solution.

Consequently, we will need to postpone the event. We will announce the new dates once we receive the agreement from the government for the new format of the beer festival.

We apologize to all the visitors, exhibitors and sponsors for this postponement. We will make it up to you. We understand that many invitation tickets with free beers were sent to the public. We will ensure that these coupons can be redeemed in the future. Please take a picture of your ticket and send it to to know how you can be compensated.
