"naked Group", spelled with a lowercase N, continues to expand their far-reaching empire. They now have six naked Hub locations and more on the way. They also just re-opened naked Discovery, a children's recreation and learning center. It's out in middle-of-nowhere Pudong, so they're pitching it as an education resort destination to spend a day at with a laundry list of kids' classes and activities. *** naked Discovery takes over two buildings with a gymnasium, rock climbing wall, dance studio, classrooms, cooking studio, and several other excellent facilities on site. Classes include fencing, DJ mixing, cooking, sports, rock climbing, filmmaking, business etiquette, math, design, scuba diving, engineering, martial arts, and more. Classes are offered for different age groups ranging from 4-13 in English and Chinese. They also have parent and child classes that they can do together. There's a lot to choose from. Kids' camps are run throughout winter and summer months. Then on the off-seasons in autumn and spring, they have classes during the weekends for adults and children. Prices for classes are not cheap. Single hour-long classes with materials included are around 400rmb each, but can get packages that brings that down a bit. On weekdays, they do corporate events for the likes of Range Rover and Education First. naked Discovery has a few challenges to be successful. One is getting people to travel that far out into Pudong. The other is convincing families that these extracurricular activities are beneficial to their kids development. Western parents are generally on board with this. But it's going to be harder to convince Chinese parents that "DJ mixing" is going to help their children become more well-rounded adults -- but Chinese families is where the real market is.
