Green Initiatives' Events Are Rethinking Fashion This April

Apr 11, 2017 | 15:02 Tue
Shanghai Fashion Week is happening right now and running until the 14th. Coincidentally, *cough* *cough* nonprofit environment org Green Initiatives has organized workshops, movie screenings, and lectures to rethink fashion consumption all month long as part of the their RE:FORM project to make our fast fashion culture more sustainable. Check inside for the details.

The workshop features several speakers giving talks on inventive ways to rethink fashion and make it more sustainable to minimize the negative impact it has on the environment. Attendees are encouraged to bring their own clothes to swap for a discounted admission fee of 80rmb.

Green Initiatives screens The True Cost, a 2015 documentary film by Andrew Morgan about the fast fashion industry (with Mandarin subtitles). The entrance fee is 50rmb for registered guests and that includes snacks, juice, and beer.

Green Initiatives does a clothing swapping party as part of the 13-in-31 campaign that challenges participants to use only 13 pieces of clothing in 31 days. Entrance is 50rmb for those bringing clothes.

They've also organized two events in Mandarin on April 22 and April 27 to build awareness in the Chinese community.
