It's so hard to tell where it goes wrong with these things. It started out so well. When we launched SmSh Dating back in 2007, the early days of the Internet, we were so young, so full of life. There was so much to learn about each others' profiles, so many dates to arrange, so many suggestive text messages to send. But... oh gosh, it's hard to even say it. Gosh. Phew. This is so hard. Okay, we're just going to say it straight out.
We think it's time to see other dating sections.
It's not that what we had wasn't special, it's just that, well, we've seen that you're getting a lot of attention from other apps like Tinder, Grindr, Momo, Tantan, Zhen Ai Wang, OkCupid, Her, Bumble, Match.com, Hinge, Coffee Meets Bagel, JDate, Sugar Daddy For Me, Hot or Not, The League, eHarmony and Adult Friend Finder, and we just don't want to hold you back. You deserve someone who'll be there to swipe right on every photo. And, if we can be honest, but, uhm, we're not really getting as much out of it as we used to, either. Approving accounts, weeding out the fake profiles and the creepy dudes and the unsolicited dick pics (seriously, what the hell)—it started feeling like a bit of a chore. Nobody wants that. This isn't how we want to remember us. We are closing the SmartShanghai Dating Section. It's over. Finished. Let's just say this is the end of a beautiful chapter in our lives. Let's move on as better, wittier, sexier people for everything we've learned, and loved, and lost.
And we'll always have that first date at Windows Scoreboard.
Love you forever, SmartShanghai
