Reports coming in off local media that portions of Pudong's Line 2 have suffered a series of signals failures this morning, putting a portion of Shanghai's (probably) busiest metro line out of operation. Authorities are advising people traveling along the sections between Shanghai Science and Technology Museum and Guanglan Road Station today to find alternative transportation. For people heading to Pudong Airport, the maglev at Longyang Road Station remains unaffected. [Update]: The signals failure has reportedly been fixed, and the overcrowding is gradually getting better. Shuttle buses have been set up to help get things moving again.
"Signals failure," huh?
Rampant speculation as to the real cause; Mutant lizards. Sentient AI. John Wick. Ghostbusters 2 ooze kind of situation. Like the ooze-- I think it's called ectoplasm-- has just completely clogged up the tunnels and the only thing that can stop it is "Your Love Keeps Lifting Me Higher." You know how much negative energy would be necessary to generate a flow that size? Shanghai - what a city, huh?
