Shanghai Gives an Extra Dose of F***s This Friday at LOFAS

Jun 10, 2020 | 15:07 Wed
Fundraising party with a purpose. This Friday, June 12, LOFAS hosts a celebration of black lives, art, and culture. It's called Shanghai Gives A Fuck, because it should, and it does. Shanghai can feel isolated from the rest of the world and its problems. For most of us, the protests against the murder of a black man by police and the entrenched racism that allows it to happen again and again have unfolded on our screens and in our inboxes. You may have donated, you may have posted, you may have sought to educate yourself and have difficult, long-overdue conversations with friends and family.

Here's a chance to show up with your body to support local black businesses, vendors, artists and performers, drink, dance, have a party about it. Tickets are 50rmb, and proceeds go towards assistance for those who need it in the US right now.

Khay from River Roots

There'll be a number of local black businesses showcasing a selection of products: art pieces from Conscious Freakz Inc., scents by River Roots, ankara face masks by LIB, jewelry by QAWIA, original outfit designs by NeVI, t-shirts by RoxanneAfi and food by Suga'hai.

Music provided by Baron van West, Big Kerm, Nico Panoramix, Popasuda Sounds, Ted, Vorbi and more. There'll be a live painting done by Bijan Sharifi, to be sold in a charitable silent auction. There'll also be a charity raffle featuring prizes from black businesses and allies such as Amar Elixirs, Badass Beauty Bar, Lulu Makeup, The Wine Lady, Pie Society, Pizza Street, Riink, Roxie, Tacolicious and The People's Pickles.

All proceeds will be given to The Bail Project, an organization that provides bail assistance to those who need it right now in the United States.
