Born in Tehran and raised in Amsterdam, Sevdaliza's a self-taught singer, songwriter, director and composer. Her enigmatic tunes create rhythmic, tension-filled mood music that could score a neon-bathed film noir. Indeed, she's produced more than a dozen evocative music videos already for songs like Human and Backseat Love. With husky vocals contrasted against precise basslines and sharp harmonies, she draws a little from Portishead, a bit from Bjork, and Velvet-Rope Era Janet Jackson. It's delicate but intense. Her debut album ISON dropped last year, and she's touring in support, stopping off in Beijing and Shanghai for a few trance-inducing shows.

Beethoven’s and Brahms’ works are considered as symbols of German classical music in a long term. Each of Beethoven’s symphonies embodies the composer’s utmost effort, and Long Yu, SSO’s Music Director, will present Symphony No.8 in F major, Op.93 with the orchestra. Comparing with other symphonies, No.8 is more minute and vivid on its emotion. Brahms’ Concerto for violin, cello & orchestra in A minor, Op.102 witnessed how he and violinist Joachim became friends again. Using two solo instruments in a concerto had been a tradition in Baroque Period, and it was very unusual in the latter half of the 19th Century, when Romanticism was at its summit. Violinist Sheryl Staples and cellist Carter Brey from New York Philharmonic will perform this masterpiece together.
