Two big mid-week shows happening this lovely, lovely Expo week, for people into indie hip-hop and global sounds. First up is Oddisee on Wednesday. The American rapper name-checks luminaries like A Tribe Called Quest and De La Soul as influences, because they're not talking about crime and murder, and his smart lyrics reflect that kind of timeless vibe. He's bringing the full band with him (Good Compny) for back-up. Tickets! Then on Thursday, we've got Gilles Peterson flying in for a gig at Electric Circus. Peterson is a big, big booking. He's a BBC icon, a champion of global music, a tireless record collector and compilation-maker, and just a general high-level tastemaker in the music world. Most importantly, that one is free with an RSVP. Big things!
