In his watercolors and oil paintings, Fang Wei blurs the line between various mediums and traditions to create works that challenge basic assumptions about perception, transforming otherwise conventional subject matter into something altogether new and unique. The exhibition at the Shanghai Gallery of Art will be his first solo show in the city, and will feature a number of works on paper alongside larger scale oil paintings.
