Shanghai Gallery of Art presents Xu Bing's solo show this month, coinciding with the publication of the artist's newest work, Book from the Ground exploring the significance of common, day-to-day icons. The exhibition continues Xu's longstanding interest in symbols and communication, further developing these themes and challenging ideas around seeing and meanings. A recipient of the prestigious MacArthur Fellowship, Xu is one of China's most prominent contemporary artists and has exhibited his work internationally.
