Pearl Lam Galleries presents the first ever China-side show of Turkish artist Inci Eviner. Featuring videos, drawings, collages and paintings; video installations are a particular strength. Known for works exploring continuity and repetition of strange and unsettling movements - be they caressing, punching, or undressing - they're performed by men, women, genderless humans, and even hybrid human-animals. In this way, she challenges and contests notions of gender, and by extension, social order. She's also interested in shining a light on vulnerable and underrepresented groups — teenage girls, migrants, and refugees, for example. Running throughout are issues of civil movements and social conditions in Turkey, and the flux of the Turkish identity since the 1980s. Grandly opens Saturday, 10 September from 5pm.
