Indonesian artist Eko Nugroho works across a range of media including embroidery, sculpture, works on paper, and mural painting. Like other Indonesian artists of his generation, he captures the tumultuous social-economic period of the country's modern history since independence: positive, energetic and young in spirit, that zeitgeist is evidenced in his witty and uplifting works. Incorporating elements of Japanese manga, masks are also a recurring motif in his work alongside UFOs, aliens and sci-fi. The opening takes place Saturday, 10 September, 5pm-7pm.
