1921 Gucci

Editor's Description

Last updated: Jun 9, 2019
In 2015, Gucci opened their first ever restaurant, in Shanghai's IAPM mall. It is not the tacky adventure in new money that one might expect, but rather a subtle Italian restaurant that feels more like a five-star hotel café. Food -- mostly seafood, pastas and risotto, Italian cheese plates, and steak options -- is quite good, but naturally not cheap. The lunch set is the best deal here, at around 150rmb, with the option to add coffee and dessert for 38rmb. Expect to pay 400-500rmb per person for dinner with drinks. Great service. This is a place to impress moms, the middle-aged, and those who care about money as well as subtlety. Nice patio here, too. Note: At the time of writing (August, 2015), the restaurant is fully booked for the next month. There is the chance of getting in on a late lunch if someone cancels, and getting a seat at the bar after 8pm should be easy enough. They do enforce a "smart casual" dress code, where shorts are frowned upon.
