Coming from Allen Hsu (Flask) and Allen Fang (Barules), Archaeology is a decent cocktail lounge with speakeasy-elements. It's hidden behind a lopsided and unmarked door on Kangding Lu, and the dark, moody interior is decked out in odd accoutrements, like medical and legal textbooks, and atlases in Latin. It's part of why they're calling it Archaeology; they like to dive into all elements of drinking culture. There's half of a naked angel set into the wall, so you know it's an academic joint. The cocktails are either intriguing and innovative, or overwrought, depending on your attitude to craft cocktails. Either way, they're well-executed and in the 95-110 range. A bit off the beaten path, and a callback to a trend that was in its heyday in 2015, but still a chill, cool place to get a well-made drink.
