Kathleen 5 is like many restaurants in Shanghai, it looks good in picture but that's it. Location is good, view is really nice, but this is not the main point when you go to a restaurant. The food itself is acceptable but nothing really exciting; service is just bad, a mix of incompetence and over reactivity. Waiter is flying around disturb you all the time but you have food before drinks. Having such kind of restrooms for a restaurant of this price is just unbelievable.
The view is good, the location great, the building has got great banisters. It's just the food isn't that good for the amount that you end up paying. In fact, it's quite mediocre compared to the alternatives in the same price bracket. Ate an inspired octopus and tofu salad, and some sort of fish which was reasonably done but nothing to write home about. The service is pretty slapdash. Don't mind going there for a coffee and to sit on the terrace, but wouldn't bother eating there again.
I agree mostly with user:ravni... mediocre and expensive, distastful entrance and bathroom, maybe the worst service for a restaurant in this price point; simply not worth your time and money. The only thing going for it is its location and ambience so possibly go for just drinks... skip the food.
The service sucks at this place. The waiters don't have a clue about basic table manners. They wanted to remove our plates several times before our table utensils actually showed we finished eating. The furthemore waited one hour before our meal was ready and then got pushed all the time by the waiters. Horrible place
