Global Alliance for Innovative Learning (GAIL), International Schools Theatre Association Performing Arts Academy Shanghai (ISTA), The Duke of Edinburgh Award, Community Choir, Community Orchestra, Band, MUN, arts & crafts, various athletics (badminton, basketball, swimming, dance, football, tennis, rock climbing, softball, volleyball, track and field), coding, cooking, drama, instrumental lessons, math clubs & activities, mother tongue language clubs (Dutch, French, German, Spanish), peer counseling, photography, print journalism (newspaper and yearbook), robotics, science clubs & activities.
Early Years and Primary students enjoy afternoon activities as part of their school day once per week. Additionally, after-school activities are offered per semester and run throughout the week for all students.
WISS is a member of the China International School Sports Association (CISSA), Shanghai Schools Sports Association (SSSA), Shanghai International Schools Athletic Conference (SISAC), and the Association of China and Mongolia International Schools (ACAMIS).

WISS operates over 40 buses as part of the bus network, which stretches across various parts of the city. An additional fee is charged for locations outside the normal pickup areas. There is a discount for families with two or more children or for families living close to the school.
