The Da Tong Mall (spelled, ahem, Da Tong "Mill") is an ingenious plan to move Shanghai's seedy nightclubs underground. It's a pit of a bar district, invisible from street level, in a ridiculous, Rococo-style. There are forty-plus bars, nightclubs, and cheesy "game clubs", all of which are under construction at the moment. Especially magnetic is the bar/club built to resemble an airplane fuselage, complete with double-layered windows and overhead storage compartments. Should be open, and breeding sin, in March.
