The largest American Chamber of Commerce in the Asia Pacific region, AmCham Shanghai was first founded in 1915, as only the third Chamber established outside the US. It's a non-profit, non-partisan business organization that aims to strengthen US-China business relations, and provides support for its members in the form of resources, support, training programs, policy advocacy and relationship-building opportunities. They've got 18 committees that focus on specific sectors, such as Entrepreneurship, Food, Agriculture and & Beverage and Marketing & Media. They hold over 500 programs annually, including a monthly member briefing and the annual AmCham Ball. In the past, they've had speakers like the US Secretary of Commerce, Energy Secretary, National Security Advisor, US Supreme Court Associate Justice Samuel Alito, the American ambassador to China, as well as other members of Congress. Their corporate and individual memberships provide varying benefits, from access to events and the membership directory, to visa and medical coverage programs.
