I have been to Dozo many times since their opening. Compared with other Japanese restaurants in the city I find it cheap. Their menu is quite limited, and there's a lack of sashimi (just 3 types) but still is a solid option to eat some late dinner (since they serve up to 2 am).
A dinner for 2 with beer and sake will cost about 400 to 600 RMB.
They also have some show with drums. A little weird but not bad.
Be careful when ordering sparkling water, since they only have one from Tasmania which cost about 120 rmb... that yes, I consider it wrong (it cost more the water than the salmon sashimi). The rest? Beer cheap, sake cheap, food cheap and all tasty.

It's a pretty cool layout with great Taiko performers and 4L tower of Asasi. Those are the only highlights. The food is WAY overpriced and quality of sushi is poor. For 15 USD (98 RMB) you get a nice looking spicy tuna sushi but the quality of the fish sucks. The yakitori is ok but again overpriced at 2 sticks for about 60 rmb.
Overall, go there for the 4L of beer and the performers but go eat at Coco Ichiban in Jing An temple first.

Yestarday visited Dozo for the first time. It's fusion Japanese restaurant. The ambiance is nice, waiters shouting welcome word every time someone come in, simple decor, dimed lamps give a nice glow and a show of 3 girls and 2 guys playing on big drums was fun to experience. Food is a different story and not satisfying for the price. It is fresh and nicely presented but the creations are not really tasteful and mouthwatering: skewers are nice, octopus with kimchi is ok, miso soup is ok, japanese pancake is just a comfort food with cheese which you eat in front of the tv, plum juice way to sweet but taste good, fried dishes are much to grease but with good flavor behind all that fat :). So if they improve and keep their fusion japanese simple and add more taste to it, maybe I will come back. There are just so many other Japanese/Asian fusion places were you can get more for less.
