Described as an 'American Cafe', Malone's is home to the most extensive burger menu in the city. Smack in the middle of Tongren Lu just around the corner from the Shanghai Center, Malone's is usually packed with expats and the out of town business crowd. Upstairs plays host to a Filipino cover band most nights, an extensive bar can satisfy any thirst, and the outdoor seating is quite appreciated during the warmer months.

Although it does provide many comfort foods that expats enjoy, the prices are really high and the wait staff are rude. The place itself is decorated nicely enough with plenty of tv's showing a variety of sports from various countries, but in the end I was really not impressed. The food is definitely overpriced, but it is decent and the portions are large. Avoid the drinks though, especially any mixed drink as they are watered down heavily. A pint of beer will set you back around 10 USD, which is crazy even in the US.

This pub/beer garden is nice for a pint with friends but, honestly, 10 quids for a dish of fish and chips? Maybe there is something terribly unreasonable here: it is China, and this place is supposedly serving PUB FOOD - not some kind of extremely expensive delicacy.
Therefore, if you are up for honest and palatable hamburgers and tasty deep fried slabs of codfish, go ahead: this is your little bit of England in downtown Shanghai. But if you care about your wallet... well, mind that such a brief and fugacious taste of Britain (a pint, some football on TV, and some fish and chips in this case) will surely cost you at least 120RMB. Apart form that, an overall enjoyable place.
