Sus2, although you probably know it as Smash, is reopening this Saturday, returning to their roots as a low key live music bar.

*** To the Shanghai lifers, Sus2 is a familiar name. They were the first (or so it is said), dedicated live music venue in Shanghai, hosting bands at their original location back in the early '00s. At the Dingxi Lu location, it was a folk and pop rock bar for an older generation of Chinese music fans. They did that there for a number of years then tried out something different, partnering with local DJ duo China Social Club who made the club Smash out of it. Neighbors, noise, mafan, blah, blah, blah. The owners have the space back now and are reopening as Sus2 again. Folk and pop rock Wednesday to Saturday on their stage. Opening this Saturday. No entry fee. And so it goes...
