We've all seen those carts of miscellaneous items set up on random streets of the city - they can be filled with pretty much anything, but more often than not if its not fruit or other food then its going to be crockery or books. Nearly every time I pass the latter I steal a quick glance to see what they have in the way of English-language books (something other than a couple of penguin classics or a biography of a former US president).. earlier last week I got lucky with four hardcover on one of those carts, withdrawn from a library in Los Angeles (how they became to be sold on a small street in Jing'an after this I'll never know), but no matter, it was nice to get something second-hand. And this coming Saturday afternoon (October 7th) and Sunday morning (October 8th) I hope to get more stuff like this with back-to-back flea markets. The organizer of the markets Marianne, has 35 stalls booked for Garden Books on Saturday and about 15 booked for O'Malley's the following morning. Among these are Bonjour Baguette, a new French bread delivery service, sandwiches by KABB, possible new pet companions from the SCAA, plus a whole lot of clothes and handmade jewellery and accessories from boutiques and individual sellers. Given, most of the stalls will be sell new items, but you still get that 'market-like' feel, wandering from table to table in search of a steal.
