While the break-beat revolution swept through the clubs of Europe and North America during the first half of the decade, the genre's popularity did not take hold in China until more recently. Unfortunately for Chinese fans, the "nu-breaks" sound they've only just come to know and love has been on life support for sometime now. In its place has risen "tech-funk," a mixture of breaks, electro, and house, which is presently championed by many of the former break beat heroes.
