Spanish techno producer/DJ Héctor Oaks is known for long sets of heavy/industrial techno and EBM on vinyl with extremely sharp technical abilities. He plays Basement New York, Berghain, all those kinda joints. Catch him at Abyss on Thursday night from 12.30-3.30am.

COULOU is a US producer, DJ and multi-instrumentalist making dreamy, slightly weird music somewhere between ambient, jazz, psychedelia and left-field beats. A lifelong piano and trumpet player, his recent material gets especially floaty and meditative, mixing live instrumentation with hazy electronic production. Basically, music for staring out a window, wandering around, or getting pleasantly lost – so, perfect for Wigwam. Support from Wheon.

Eternal Shanghai club night & label Love Bang does a holiday night of hip hop house, moon core, and ratchet shit at this neighborhood bar on Thursday night. Music from DJs MMQ and Josie, starting at 9pm and going until at least 1am. House party vibes, spicy cocktails, red lights, and offline adventure. No cover.

One of China's finest reggae/dancehall MC's/selectors, Jado, hosts another of his Ruff & Tuff nights at this timeless basement bar in Changning. This one is a mid-autumn festival ting. Music is all over the low-end spectrum: reggae and dancehall, dub and dubstep, jungle and D&B, and maybe some roots. He's joined by Aho. Free entry.

Gurgling, the bar on Xiangyang Bei Lu by ALL, does two nights for Mid-Autumn with DJ Jess bringing UK funky and garage on Thursday, followed by dubstep producer Mungk on Friday. Wukong, Joshua and Rastafari round things out with soulful, dubby and bass-heavy sounds from around the world. Starts 8:30pm and goes late both nights. Could be a good one to check out while you're walkin the streets.

Shanghai-based crew Preme host a night of hip hop, club, and trap at one of the oldest underground spots in town, YY’s, which has been on Nanchang Lu since the early 2000s. Special guests of the night are Tom Yeti and LA-based producer/DJ Drewbyrd, whose production credits include Mac Miller, Nipsey Hussle and Rick Ross. Looking like a good party to set off the mid-autumn festival for 2026.
