Description

Get ready for a spectacular stage production of the beloved musical "Singin' in the Rain," direct from the UK with its award-nominated creative team. This show is famous for its incredible, real on-stage rain effect—using 6,000 liters of heated water—and classic numbers like "Make 'Em Laugh" and "Good Morning." It's a joyful trip back to the glamorous Golden Age of Hollywood.

Journey back to the glamour of Hollywood during the roaring 20s. Silent movie star Don Lockwood seems to have it all: a string of hit films and a studio-engineered romance with the most beautiful actress in town. Unbeknownst to Don, the cinema is about to undergo a revolution with the arrival of talkies. His life takes an unexpected turn when a chance encounter with a talented young chorus girl steals his heart, an event that promises to change both Don and Hollywood forever.

The stage production of "Singin' in the Rain" is based on the classic Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer film, regularly voted the most popular film musical of all time. It features songs by Nacio Herb Brown and Arthur Freed, including "Make ‘Em Laugh," "Good Morning," "Moses Supposes," and the iconic "Singin’ in the Rain." The original screenplay and adaptations are by Betty Comden and Adolph Green.

Reuniting the original Chichester Festival Theatre production team, the musical is directed by Jonathan Church, with Olivier Award-nominated choreography by Andrew Wright. The production is designed by Simon Higlett, with lighting by Tim Mitchell. Stuart Burt is the Casting Director.

The production is renowned for its iconic rain scene, which:

  • Uses 6,000 liters of water (weighing 5 tonnes).
  • Requires over 100 meters of heavy-duty rubber hose.
  • Takes 15 minutes to drain, after which the water is recycled, cleaned, and reused.
  • Heats the water to 37 degrees for performer comfort
