Based in Shanghai since 2016, mostly eating, exploring, and pretending to be busy. Big on animals, good restaurants, cool events, and organizing life with spreadsheets just to feel in control.

Tired of pretending to enjoy standing for two hours at a gig? Same.

LAYLiVE turns Jazz at Lincoln Center Shanghai into an indoor camping situation where the main activity is... lying down in a tent and listening to music. No awkward swaying, no fighting for sightlines, no wondering what to do with your hands.

The 90-minute set drifts through nature-themed soundscapes like forest, bonfire, ocean, and rain, built on fingerstyle guitar with electronic layers. It's calm, slow, and very committed to the idea that you should probably just relax for once.

On stage, James Zhou Jing handles the intricate guitar work while Ye Ye adds the ambient electronic textures, together creating something that feels halfway between a live set and a very aesthetic nap.

You can sit like a normal person, or fully lean into the concept and book a shared tent. No judgment either way, but one of these options is clearly more on brand.

It's not a rave. It's not exactly a concert. It's closer to "scheduled disassociation," but with good sound design.

Next shows are June 8, then August 10, October 12, and December 14. Don't sleep on it.
