The city's hottest addition to the shawarma/kebab/etc wraps economy, Eli Falafel, has opened up a new spot on Jiujiang Lu. Meanwhile, the longest-running kebab purveyors, Brothers Kebab, have finally reopened their Tomorrow Square location, and are launching a Monday Double deal to commemorate the occasion. Excellent. * Brothers Kebab, if you're not familiar with it, is a Danish-owned 'bab shop that's been around for over a decade, serving up reliable hangover buffer-food in the form of 42rmb shawarma and doner in pita and wraps, plus Kushari rice and Fattoush salad. We hear people also eat it for lunch! They'd launched the location on the basement floor of Tomorrow Square in 2018, but ended up having to put it on hold for a year while the mall went through some serious renovation work. It's just been opened (reopened?). Meals are 66rmb for Chicken shawarma with fries and a drink. They've also opened a new location in Gubei Carrefour.
To commemorate the new opening, they've launched a Monday BOGO deal on dine-in wraps at their People's Square, Pudong and Gubei Carrefour locations.
On the other side of People's Square, we have a new location from the Lebanese-owned Eli Falafel. You're going for (or more realistically, ordering take-out of) their 40rmb falafel wraps. Best-known for their namesake, which is outstanding, their menu also includes stuff like Lebanese-style hummus, labneh and muhammara. Their original Wulumuqi Lu location is less a restaurant and more a glorified takeaway counter. Their new location is slightly better, with more and comfier seating, but this is still primarily a take-away counter. The falafel wrap here'll cost you 78rmb and comes with hummus, salad, French fries and a drink.
