Did you know the highest restaurant in the world (inside a building) is in Shanghai? Heavenly Jin is on the 120th floor of the J Hotel in Shanghai Tower, a cool 556 meters above the ground. Yup. That high.
The views? Pretty good.
The restaurant, which serves Jiangnan and classic Huaiyang cuisine, is tucked at the back of the 120th floor. But there's also a small bar/lounge area with just a handful of tables facing the Bund, giving you jaw-dropping views of all of Puxi. Drinks aren't cheap -- obviously -- but this isn't the spot for your after-work beer. It's where you go for special occasions or when friends are in town, and you want to show them something a little more exclusive than the crowded observation deck upstairs.
SmartShanghai is selling a set menu deal called the "Sunset Table for 2 with Shanghai City Skyline View." For 688 RMB, you get two drinks and a food platter. Sounds steep? Maybe. But hey, you're skipping the sightseeing platform fee, and sometimes it's worth spending a bit to escape the crowds or show off. Plus, the food platter is solid, making it a pretty good deal overall.
Book through SmartShanghai and don't forget to reserve a window-facing table for sunset. Trust us, it's worth it.
