The Zhangyuan refugees are slowly putting down roots again. The latest one to end its diaspora is Oji, the Japanese speakeasy that used to occupy a backroom in el Ocho. It opened yesterday on the second floor of the mall in Fengsheng Li, sans el Ocho. The only sign we saw was outside the building. The door could be mistaken for a janitor's closet, so still kind of a speakeasy! The interior is familiar: a long bar in demure, dark-wood surroundings, with some table seating at the end and some jazz music on the sound system. A bar, basically. Welcome back!
