We've previously covered Jing'an shikumen renovation project HKRI Taikoo Hui a while back -- now it's finally opened. Kinda. Ish. Only around 10% (or less) is up and running but the broad strokes are there. Read on for what's going on inside. (Spoiler: Star Wars things!)

Taikoo Hui has great location; it's in the middle of Jing'an district. The Nanjing Xi Lu station on Line 13 is supposed to take you directly to the shopping mall, but that isn't ready either. The building has an S-shape layout. A massive and undulating glass canopy, it's got a very sleek and upscale-looking interior. It feels like it's going to be a nicer IAPM. Sans the fragrance. At least for now.

So it's not even close to being a destination point yet, but there's still one thing you can do at this brand new shopping mall, though: indulge in your rabid Star Wars fanaticism. (It opened to the public on May 4th, you see.)

There are Star Wars gift shops (where you can buy some Star Wars themed chocolate and zongzi); a Star Wars-themed VR zone (with a queue, of course!); a Star Wars Jedi training camp; some De'Longhi x Star Wars collections... pretty much every floor has something related to Star Wars.

And all that stuff will run until June 18.

Back to the shopping mall itself. It overlaps with its counterparts like IAPM or Fuxing SOHO/ XTD, but ends up being slightly more interesting. For restaurants you have familiar names like Ding Tai Fung, Laojishi, Jade Garden and Hunter Gatherer, to name a few. A Grandma's Home as well, but it's Grandma's Home Time Travel, to be precise, which is a more creative, more expensive sub-brand.

The biggest City' Super in the mainland will be in the basement. Starbucks also put their first Starbucks Roastery and Tasting Room there. It occupies 2,700-square-meter of space. It's a serious Starbucks. And after Paris Rouge, Paris Bleu, follows a Paris Blanc, which is right across a new Bar Constellation.

Nice coverage of fashion brands, too. From major fashion houses to funkier streetwear and designer labels like ISSEY MIYAKE or mu. The latter will be a concept store offers a salon and cafe as well.

Most of the shops mentioned above haven't started running yet. Especially the F&B part. Paris Blanc and Bar Constellation aren't even finished construction. Looks like Taikoo Hui won't be ready until late Summer, according to the banner on their Disney store.

Still. New mall, Shanghai. Excited?
