The Spot is a popular sports bar / restaurant catering to a diverse group of expats looking for food, drinks, bar games, and international sports on the TV. In terms of décor, it's slightly nicer and more spacious than other options for sports bars in Shanghai, and caters well to larger groups. With an emphasis on gastro fair, the dining options at The Spot meander between European and South East Asian cuisines, with the standouts being the German and Thai options. Watch for their weekly drinks specials and their weekend all-you-can-eat, all-you-can-drink BBQs (150rmb per person). Other noteworthy aspects: pretty nice patio seating and a Sunday poker night.

Spot Bar is originally a sport bar so decoration is not to be discussed - it is ok with the typical equipment - but: there is also life music with an excellent singer and an atmosphere that is far different from similar so called sports bars - why? don't know - perhaps because of the people or the very friendly staff, the open front space .... and not to forget their huge menu of asian, italian, german dishes, burgers ....
As a German I consider the quality and authenticity of the German dishes as much better then e.g. Paulaner (tried Jaegerschnitzel, Saussage Salad, meat loaf, Kaesespaetzle .... all just great)also tried the perfect burgers and bruchettas as well as huge delicious salads .... value for money?? try the Jaegerschnitzel for ca. 80RMB and if you are still hungry I can't help anymore.
I have to admit that there was 1 out of 10 weekends a little confusion in the kitchen so that food is not as perfect as usually - but it happened only very seldom to us. And compared to other shanghai restaurants: tell me were you really get the same quality every time you go - almost impossible in Shanghai.
From 30RMB dishes to huge steaks everything is availible. Drinks are a little more expensive but still ok.
sunday BBQ we never tried - alway had "a la carte", but there is not many people using that offer. So the staff seems not occupied and bored and maybe therefor(as written in the other review)buffet was not well maintained. A la carte food was always outstanding.

Went for their Sunday BBQ and it was the pits. all the food was cold and they were waiting for the chaffing dishes to be empty before re-filling them. 4 bbq chefs sitting on the balcony eating and smoking and the bread they put out was covered in flies and VERY stale!
Ive never seen it so bad, AND it was quiet too.
