While service may be a little lacking the food here speaks for itself. The emphasis is on quality, not quantity. Guests select from the daily board which features dishes such as home made pate terrine, cold cuts, grilled sea bass and lobster rissoto, all of which is made with a high attention to detail and quality.

We went to Franck on a Wednesday night and were pleased to find it packed! It's always a good sign to see a restaurant full of happy diners. The food, I had a white truffle salad and the duck , my boyfriend had the "charturiccurie" (cold cut) plate and steak tartare. We were both so pleased. We had a carafe of red, the cheapest one on the list and it was fantastic. As for the service, I liked it. They were attentive and gracious. Franck himself comes over and takes your order and the meal is well placed. You're given time to enjoy your food, wine and they bring your table the best bread and butter (salted!) to your table. It was an overall wonderful experience. I'm going back this week just for the wine and to have the cheese selection.

We managed to get a table at last. It is a Tuesday night and the place was packed full. The appetizers arrived and we were impressed. It was very good, like eating in a bristo in Paris. We were excited at such an excellent start and did not expect that the main course was only to arrive 80 minutes later. When we highlighted that we had waited long for the main course, the response was: our kitchen is small, the restaurant is pack, so enjoy the place - delivered with mock politeness. Translation: we have plenty of customers, so if don't do like it, tough. It is a pity that such arrogance has develop so quickly with the early success of this restaurant. We won't be coming back or recommending to our friends.

Nice restaurant, decent food, and I'm glad I got there early because it was full within 30 minutes after it opened on a Saturday for lunch. The cons: it's a bit on the expensive side (110rmb for a tomato mozzarella salad for example), no high chairs for kids, they only take cash as of now (the card machine isn't setup yet), and they allow people to smoke inside. Fortunately there was only 1 obnoxious french girl who decided to bother everyone else with her cigarette (yes I can say that, I'm french too!). The menu is fairly small (about 10 choices), and not that exciting (I only saw the lunch menu, maybe dinner is more interested). The free bread and salted butter were delicious. 1 hot sandwich, 1 cold meat platter and 1 bottle of water: 265rmb.

Great food, poor service, high prices. I must say the food was great; full of flavor, especially the cold meats and the venison. Decent wine. Service quite poor, as we really had to ask several times to get menus, knives, bread, etc. And pretty pricey - two of us, two appetizers, two main dishes, two glasses of wine was 850 rmb. But we'd go back for the food.

lovely french bistro atmosphere but completely overpriced! i guess this is what happens when some passably decent french food becomes available in shanghai, people think it's worth paying the moon for. completely normal (but good) bistro food (i had the smoked salmon starter and the confit de canard - both delicious) and a decent wine list, but NO WAY should the bill for two have been almost a thousand kuai. go for a coffee/ glass of wine/ dessert instead, to soak up all the gallic atmosphere they seem so proud of!

Started with the meat and cheese platter (sounds nicer in french). The portion was ridiculously large so "da bao"'d almost half of it. But the selection of 3 cheeses with salami, two types of ham and the ol' viand seche were all excellent. My better half had the egg salad mentioned above. Sort of like a french ceaser .. no real complaints there. Again the portion was trop grand. On to mains - beef stew for me. Marrow on the side if you like that sort of thing. A bit post modern in the presentation...they dribble a clear broth into your plate in front of you - I think they should just bring it all out in the one plate next time, (and slam it on the table contempuously). My partner's duck was sensational. Two large breast slices and a confit leg. Highly recommended. Desert was the tarte tartine. Above average - just. Total price , including 5 glasses beaujolais... 1160 RMB. Pricey for Shanghai, but we took home alot. Could have fed 4 for that I'd say. Service was good - a nice young fellow took our order and explained the menu very well. They disappeared when it got busy though. Early sitting recommended.
