While service may be spotty and short, the food here speaks for itself. The emphasis is on quality, not quantity. Guests select from the daily board which features simple bistro fare -- homemade terrine, simple meats, fish, salads -- done with a high level of attention of detail and quality. Deservedly, it's an icon among Shanghai's many French restaurants.

Loved the food and the ambience of Franck but what is up with the cold stuffy service sans smiles? Is it supposed to make the place feel more exclusive and/or professional? My date and I had the beef tartare and the fish for our mains along with the terrine and octopus for appetizer. Excellent presentation and flavors. Wines are expensive. Will probably go back but would like to see friendly faces the next time round.

I called this morning for a lunch reservation. As I have never been there, so I asked a few questions. But the girl on the phone was incredably rude from beginning to the end of the conversation. I mean she was screaming and shouting at me, while I tried my best not to become angry.

When I asked how much is consumption per person for lunch (as I heard from a few friends that they are quite expensive for a bistro), she yelled at me and answered " how should I know? I don't know if you take starter or main course or desert? I don't know if you drink wine or water? How can I know how much you will spend? If you want to know, then come and check out the menu yourself"...I am totally shocked by her rude and impatient answer, don't know how to continue the conversation anymore.

Well, of course I didn't go there to check out how much per person that lunch and never will. 2 munites on the phone you already know what kind of service you will get.

I've heard something good about this bistro but in fact it was a disaster....I went there with my girl friend at 19h00 while the dining room was still empty, but nobody welcomed us, I had to find a table myself. The guy(perhaps the manager) came to finger-pointed the wine my girlfriend who brought: "sorry your wine is not allowed to open here or you should pay the selling price here". Eh, it was the gift from her and I'm not even ask to open here...I said that shall you greet with us before saying anything? the guy narrowly said hello and left away through my dinner. I ordered a glass of martini dry but the waiter mistakenly brought me a dry martini, confit de canard is stark and non of tasty, also there's a little sand in the salad my girlfriend got, such a high range of menu and wine list, I don't think it matches a bistro concept. ok they made an effort on the location but nothing else to say positively, I'll never come back.
