The Velvet Underground Is Coming to Shanghai; Tickets Now Available
By May 14, 2018 Music
Well... as much as they can at any rate, seeing as both Lou Reed (d. 2013) and Nico (d. 1988) have left us for all tomorrow's parties in the afterlife. But yeah. The Velvet Underground as embodied by original member John Cale and trusty bassist Joey Maramba is being hosted by the Shanghai Symphony Orchestra on July 11 to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the band.

Shanghai"

That's crazy. That's CRAZY. But check this out. Even crazier: vocal duties are being rounded out by guests from China's (read: Beijing's) indie music scene, including Zhang Shouwang (Carsick Cars, White +), Yang Yulong (Chui Wan), Yang Fan (Ourself Beside Me) and Li Qing (Snapline). Whaaat! Mind boggling! Are you still waiting for your man on this?! We're already here, son! Tickets are available right now, right here! Don't wait on those.

Obviously, this will sell out seeing as it will be the last indie concert in China ever. We're done. Close the book on it.

" The Velvet Underground as embodied by John Cale and original bassist Joey Maramba." What? Joey Maramba never played in VU. John Cale was the bassist.
