Harrods will shut its Cha House Tea Rooms and private members' club on Jan. 31, 2026. This hospitality venture from the UK's best-known department store charged from 150,000rmb a year to sit in impeccably upholstered spaces and eat at a Gordon Ramsay-branded restaurant.
Also out is EHB, the Shanghai offshoot of Norway's three-Michelin-star Maaemo. They opened in May 2023 and bowed out in late September after running a 3,688rmb tasting menu (with 1,688rmb or 5,888rmb wine pairings, plus 10% service).
At a very different price point but long a reliable presence for last-minute birthday cakes,Awfully Chocolate has also closed all its Shanghai stores following a licensing fallout. Prestige or nostalgia, nothing's guaranteed here...
