This local was infamous for having people leave at noon and beyond to either wind-down or grab some brunch (those ragged beauties at Café Gray with sunglasses and tattered make-up were probably tearing up the dance floor just an hour earlier). The venue had closed down in order to move to a bigger space (Celia 702… more on that later), but they are now reopening at their usual underground haunt, with their usual vampiric hours (although slightly adjusted). Instead of staying open until whenever, they have decreed that the fun must end at 7am-ish (at least within Celia).
Their grand reopening is next Friday, March 5th at 11pm. Here’s the DJ line-up:
Leo Lang – – 11pm-12am
Giulio Perinello – – 12-1am (Hi Giulio!)
Costin – – 1-2am
Final Request – – 2-3am
Fane – – 3-4am
James Lealand – – 4-5am
Chewie – – 5am-end
The night will start off with Ro-minimal (a minimalist style coming out of Romania, which is apparently popular), followed by melodic techno, then deep-house, and finally ending the night with progressive trance. Not bad Celia. Not bad.
Just a point of clarification, this Celia by Pulse is NOT affiliated with Celia 702.
So now there is an after-hours club back in Shanghai, a place for the models of Shanghai to congregate and do their pirouettes to sexy deep house. The event listing for the re-opening party is HERE. There is a 100rmb entrance fee, and it will not only get partiers through the door, but it will also get one complimentary drink in their hand.
