Shanghai Illustration & Pop Show (SIPS) originates from the Bologna Illustrators Exhibition (founded in 1967), often regarded as the “Oscars of illustration.” The event explores the diverse value of illustration across art collecting and commercial applications, presenting a visual experience where illustration intersects with contemporary art and pop culture.
The inaugural Shanghai Illustration & Pop Show (SIPS) will take place from 29 to 31 May 2026 at the Shanghai Exhibition Centre, presenting a large-scale visual exhibition that integrates illustration, contemporary art, pop culture, and modern lifestyle.

Visitors are invited to explore a series of carefully curated thematic zones, each offering a distinct context for discovering the diverse expressions and cross-disciplinary potential of illustration.
The exhibition brings together award-winning illustrators and leading visual artists from China and abroad, with works spanning picture book publishing and contemporary visual art. Featured artists include Xiong Liang, A Geng, TANGO, Guituzi, Shi Xiaojie, Hei Mi, and others.

A range of international special exhibitions will also be presented, including Cover Stories: BCBF Illustrators Annual (1991–2026), the collaborative works of Van Orton Design, Pinocchio Reimagined: International Masters of Illustration, and 10 Visions: A Decade of Visual Identity from Bologna Children’s Book Fair (2017–2026), collectively showcasing the evolution of illustration as a global visual language.

In addition, SIPS features a curated selection of international brands and lifestyle projects, including VILEBREQUIN, SATURNBIRD® Pro, REEERO, and Le Petit Prince, demonstrating how illustration extends into design, lifestyle products, and contemporary consumer culture.

An Illustrators Market and creative retail zone will also be set up, offering a wide range of illustration-inspired merchandise and design objects, creating an interactive space where collecting and experiencing converge.

SIPS aims to build an open and inspiring cultural platform where audiences can freely explore the relationship between illustration, creativity, and everyday life.
SIPS brings together illustration across multiple contexts, from artistic practice to commercial applications. The event combines exhibitions, featured artists, and brand collaborations, offering a broad view of how illustration interacts with contemporary culture.
Visitors can explore curated displays, browse merchandise, and engage with visual content in a setting designed for both discovery and casual browsing.
