Born in Beijing, now based in Shanghai. Still judges every roast duck against the ones from home.

With football fever in the air around the World Cup season, the Shanghai World Financial Center has turned its upper floors into a themed football pop-up. Cloud Soccer Festival sits 474 meters above the city, blending exhibition spaces with skyline views.

Getting into it is already a bit of a process. You go in from the Dongtai Lu side, then head up to the 3rd floor for ticket check-in. From there, it stops feeling like a normal exhibition and starts feeling a bit like you've been handed a vertical itinerary.

You'll go up to the 95th floor first, then continue to the 100th floor for the main highlight, the FIFA World Cup trophy and that very classic Lujiazui skyline moment. After that, you're sent back down to the 94th floor, which is where most of the actual "doing things" happens, mini football games, esports setups, and a fairly busy memorabilia zone.

The easiest way to think about it: you're basically paying for two things in one ticket, a football-themed pop-up and access to one of the highest indoor viewpoints in Shanghai. That combination actually works better than expected, especially for families or anyone who came mainly for the skyline and ended up surrounded by football content.

One thing worth knowing: Shanghai World Financial Center doesn't really sell standalone tickets to its observation deck anymore. Access up here is mostly tied to events like this, which makes pop-ups like this rare in a practical way. The catch is the view itself is very weather-dependent, and right now it's the beginning of the notorious plum rain season, so visibility can swing from "postcard Shanghai" to "white wall in the sky" pretty quickly. If the view is the main reason you're going, pick a very clear day. Click here to buy tickets.
