The FISE World Series is back at Shanghai's West Bund from October 15-18, bringing four days of BMX, skateboarding, inline skating, scooter action, and street dance to the riverside. The best part? It's completely free to watch this year, and you don't need a ticket or advance booking. Just show up and catch the action.
BMX Tricks, Skateboarding and Dance Battles
There are five disciplines and 18 competitions to check out, from BMX riders pulling tricks in the air to skaters taking on the courses and dancers going head-to-head in breaking and all-style battles. BMX events cover park, street, flatland, and banked-ramp formats, while the dance program, presented with Shanghai-based THE CIRCLE DANCE LAB (TCDL), brings a wider range of styles to the battle floor. If you want to catch the big moments, aim for October 17-18, when the finals are concentrated.
More Than Just Watching the Pros
There's plenty to do between competitions, too. The festival has brand pop-ups, games, and hands-on activities scattered around the site. Try a basketball shooting challenge, take on a climbing or parkour course, test out electric scooters, or stop by the various booths for small prizes and giveaways. Some activities have limited daily supplies, so get there early if there's something specific you want to try.
The action takes place around the West Bund Dome and West Bund Dream Center along Longteng Avenue in Xuhui, with the festival expected to run from 11am to 10pm daily. Think of it as a giant, open-air street sports festival by the river: come for a competition, stay for the dance battles, and wander around the rest of the site while you're there. No tickets, no complicated planning. Just drop by and see what's happening.
