[In Focus]: Christmas Trees of Shanghai

Some dazzling, others... less so. Here's a quick photo gallery of the Christmas trees that have sprung up around the city. So pretty!

  • That's more like it. Merry Christmas, Christmas celebrators!

  • Disney's Tsum Tsum Tree, IFC, Lujiazui. Um. I guess it's a tree?

  • Paper Cake Christmas tree, Yueda 889 Square, Jing'an. Pretty creative. It's serving me The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe realness.

  • Is that a world famous French architectural design firm in your pocket or are you just happy to see me? (BAH. They can't all be touchdowns.)

  • Opinions in the office are divided on the X-TREE, Xintiandi, by 1024 Architecture. The person writing this thinks it's pretty cool. The person across from me wants me to make fun of it.

  • Jo Malone's fragrance Christmas tree, Raffles City, Peoples Square. Is it mod? Is it art deco?

  • Are you getting misty eyed yet?

  • Something a bit more traditional from your good friends at Cartier. This is the one at Plaza 66 in Jing'an.

  • Storm Troopers at the ready. Santa ain't getting near this thing.

  • Rogue One Empire installation, Grand Gateway, Xujiahui. The "Death Star" Christmas Tree. Star Wars everything. Why not.

  • Stretches up for a few floors. A beacon of shopping serenity in Xujiahui.

  • Grand Gateway, Xujiahui. The tree itself looks like a gateway too. Getting Nightmare Before Christmas vibes. Reminder to self: watch Nightmare Before Christmas again real soon.
