IWPS was started back in 1993 here in Shanghai, so next year marks 25th anniversary for this Shanghai home-grown group. They are a professional women's group, focused on cultivating women leadership. They have over 200 members right now here in the city, with around 40 events planned on an annual basis that are broken down into roughly 3 categories: networking gatherings, professional development events including speaker panels (we love those, don't we. #TedX!), and workshops. Amanda Argentieri who is the Business Policies, Training, and Communications Manager for Global Operations at PTC serves as the organization's President had this to say:
"As our 25th year anniversary is next year - we look forward to building more relationships inside of China and outside to become a globally influential group cultivating female leadership."
Seems pretty neat, and this year looks like they are doing just that; the Elevate Women's Group from the Australian Chamber of Commerce and Women in Business from the British Chamber of Commerce will be involved with the kick off event, and we've heard that CEIBS and IE Business School will be sending people to the event as well. Tickets are still available for the event, so you haven't missed your chance to meet some ladies who will no doubt be running the city in a few years.
The networking event will run from 6.30-10.30pm and price varies; for IPWS Members 170rmb, non-members 300. IPWS Young Professionals Members 120 and non-members under 30, 200rmb. Your ticket includes canapés (fancy!) and two drinks.
