Headline says it all: The latest high profile Yongfu Lu closing is The Apartment. They've been closed for the past few days now, with the future of the venue looking grim. They might re-open but it's unlikely. Moving the venue somewhere else is more likely. Speaking with sources who wished not to be named, "the usual Shanghai landlord drama" is the issue and "the venue is at the moment closed". One of Shanghai's most popular party destinations in its day, the bar and restaurant was part of a collection of venues that defined the character of the street which itself defined Shanghai circa 2011 or so -- el Coctel, The Shelter, Shiva, Rhumerie Bounty, and Tam o' Shanter not to mention JZ Club around the corner. All of those are now gone, with The Apartment being the last holdout. The venue had just celebrated their 7th anniversary. RIP Yongfu Lu! RIP Shanghai 2011. RIP youth!
