F&B Bites: There're Two New Peet's; M2 Is Returning; Sichuan Citizen (Donghu) Is Still a Thing?

By May 28, 2018 Dining
Starting your Monday off right with some F&B nonsense. Plenty new places for coffee, there's a big old banner announcing the resurrection of some club no one's heard about (jokes), and the place that used to be Sichuan Citizen looks... distressingly similar to Sichuan Citizen.

So! Peet's. You like Peet's? Have more Peet's. Two more Peet's, to be precise. One is taking over the ground floor of Ferguson Lane, just under (the new and proper) Sichuan Citizen, and is already open. The second is incoming in the basement of Jing'an Kerry Center. Here's what we thought of the the original on Donghu Lu.

Peet's

S2, a large "Chinese club" (neon, tables, etc.) has been closed down and is being reopened in the future as M2 (neon, tables, Top 100 DJs etc.). M2, if you'll recall, was rebranded as Myst, after the original Myst moved from Yan'an Zhong Lu. With me? Okay, reportedly, the S2 brand was just so toxic and sordid that they needed to switch it up a little. Incidentally, all these places are owned by like the same guy. Switch 'em up cup game!

M2
... again

Finally, that prime spot Sichuan Citizen used to occupy has been replaced by something called Dongmen Spicy Childe. It's red, has a bar, and serves Sichuan food. They even tell you it's the same owners if you ask. The fellas over at Ferguson Lane suggest otherwise. Drama! Apart from that, they're completely different! You see, this one's called "Dongmen Spicy Childe." And it's open 24/7.
