2015: Best Flyers
Our annual showcase of good design. Gold stars for all of you.
By Dec 28, 2015 Nightlife
Fonts. Concepts. Colors. Lines. Using Chinese (we live in China, y'all). Originality. Memorability.

All of this goes into our scientific formula for selecting the flyers of the year. Our bird Editor chose these 20 flyers from a pool of about 5000. Many more will appear in our favorite flyer list -- your favorite flyer list, dear reader -- Worst Flyers 2015. Look out for that tomorrow. For now, good vibes.

Flyers picked by China Academy Of Art graduate & official SmSh bird, Editor The Parakeet

From The Shanghai Soup Dumpling Index to her work on St.Cavish's flyers, illustrator Ailadi just killed it in 2015.

***

Looks like a poster for a queer cinema night, and it is.

***

This one's for 9/11.

***

Some next-level screen-printing techniques on display here, by the always dope Idle Beats collective.

***

Less is more. That said, this poster makes zero sense to anyone unacquainted with Shanghai's labyrinthian techno quadrant. Might as well be a Carrefour promotion.

***

Postmodern flyer for a postmodern concept album of footwork trax built from samples of those "disco" CDs sold by uncles on the streets of Shanghai.

***

Why yes, this is a hipster laowai '80s party.

***

Not your typical hip hop flyer.

***

Jumped on that Star Wars train a few months before the rest of the galaxy.

***

Speaking of space...

***

This artist's other big poster in 2015 got the whole tour banned.

***

Chinese Nu-metal x ouija board vibes.

***

Guess we should include one club flyer with a DJ's face on it? R.I.P. Lola V1.0.

***

For their 11th anniversary, Bar Rouge did this six-part Tintin-esque series of flyers. That's kinda neat.

***

Colors really pop on this one. Plus, having one flyer for your 27 city tour just makes life so much easier.

***

Most venues don't even bother telling customers that they're closed for holidays. Le Baron went about five steps further with this concept they borrowed from '80s NYC.

***

Your annual '80s style photocopy shitjob. Art matches the concept.

***

Looks just like ChaCha. Are those cherry cough drops floating around?

***

Cute.

***

Something you'd wanna put on your dorm room wall and just BUG OUT to, maaaaaaannnn...
