SH's Ultraviolet, HK's Amber Make World’s 50 Best Restaurants 2017

Just two China-based restaurants made the ever-contentious San Pellegrino’s World’s 50 Best Restaurants list for 2017, announced yesterday at a ceremony in Melbourne, Australia: Amber in Hong Kong and Shanghai's much revered chicken and waffles shack, Ultraviolet from Chef Paul Pairet.

New York restaurant Eleven Madison Park secured the top spot this year and it sounds like they WENT FOR IT. According to Eater.com, "Daniel Humm and Will Guidara’s Eleven Madison Park, [is] a tasting menu spot famous for its nuclear-powered hospitality — from Googling guest preferences, to leaving bottles of Calvados on the table at the end of the meal (“have as much as you want”) and sending every patron home with a souvenir granola jar. A wine-paired dinner for two at the restaurant costs over 1,000 USD."

It's all about the souvenir granola jar, people.

Year-on-year, Amber dropped four spots to land at number 24 this year whereas Ultraviolet climbed a spot to occupy the number 41 spot for 2017. Congrats to Paul Pairet and the Ultraviolet team. We imagine the showing will enable the restaurant to secure better performance slots at international EDM festivals around the world, as well as a few more million clicks on YouTube for their latest Tiesto collab.
