The SmartShanghai app has been updated with new features that allow you to submit recommendations, and we'll give you FREE stuff!

Here's what the recommendations look like. They get published in our directory, and we feature them in a bi-weekly featured article:

Share Recommendations. Earn Points

For everything you submit, you earn points -- which you can use to exchange for cash vouchers, event tickets, and more.

Here's an example of one cool voucher you can redeem after writing just 2 dining recommendations:

Once you accumulate more points, you'll be invited to a monthly SmartShanghai supporters party series, where we offer free drinks and snacks at a trendy new venue. ("Trendy"!) Your profile will be listed as a contributor on the SmartShanghai page and your name will be listed on venues you checked in on.

How To Join

Everybody can join.

1. Download our app (or update it to the latest version).
2. First, prepare your profile. Open your account page by clicking in the bottom-right corner of the toolbar (MySmSh)
   
   
3. Click Settings (the gears icon) in the top right corner
   
   
4. Add an image to your profile (any photo is fine! We just want to know you're a real person and not a bot)
5. Go back to the main homepage and click on the "Create +" button on the toolbar.
6. Click "Share a Recommendation" to start posting content.
   
   
7. Start earning points for different categories like Restaurants and other destinations around the city!
   
   
   
   
8. As you collect more points, your Status goes up.
   
   
9. ...and you can start exchanging your points for stuff. Good stuff.

Help us discover good stuff:

If you discover something you really liked, and think others might too, go ahead and share a recommendation, together with some pictures. We filter through all submissions and publish them on the app and our WeChat accounts.

We are looking for pretty much anything, not just restaurant recommendations. Good deals, fun activities, interesting art shows, weird, offbeat stuff, hospitals, school recommendations, new sports activities, nice parks ... pretty much anything that's interesting, fun, and/or increases the quality of life.

Please also help us improve our directory:

Every time you visit a venue — let's say a shop, a restaurant, a massage studio, a hair salon, or literally anything else — you log into our app and help us check if our listing is correct. Report wrong and/or outdated information. That's it. And if you're up to it, you can also upload some photos and a description for additional points.

You also earn points for posting events, deals, apartments and Buy&Sell listings

Additionally, you'll also be able to earn SmartShanghai points for a wide range of activities. Seen a good deal somewhere? Submit it to us through the app and earn points. Renting out your apartment? Post it on SmartShanghai Housing to earn points. Have something to sell? You'll earn points for every item you list on SmartShanghai Buy&Sell.
