Cinema shows English and Chinese movies. Mall movie theater, with lots of jewel toned velvet decor. Tickets are 100rmb, 110rmb for 3D. Tuesday, tickets are half price before 7pm. Wednesday is Ladies' Night (guy purchases 1 full price ticket, girl gets in free). Saturday and Sunday tickets are half price before noon. Sweet and salty popcorn, large is 28rmb.

Egyptian themed cinema. IMAX is available here which makes it infinitely more appealing. Tickets are reasonable and they have an ice cream shop right by the traditional concession stand. Monday-Thursday, expect to pay between 40 and 80rmb. Friday-Sunday, tickets run from 100-150rmb.

Awkwardly designed popular cinema. Very crowded, but they've got IMAX so that's to be expected. There is also a Hershey store right next to the ticket booth. Popcorn is sweet and costs 12,18, or 25rmb depending on size. Ticket prices are based on movie popularity and time of day. 45-50rmb before 10am and after 9:30pm. During prime-time tickets are 50-60rmb. IMAX tickets are 80/90rmb.

This cinema has four theaters, the largest of which has 268 seats. All have stadium seating, massive screens and good surround sound. The seats are somewhat small, a broad shouldered person might be uncomfortable. Ticket prices are 80, 100, and 110 rmb, it depends on the movie (3D is 110rmb). Tuesdays are half price and Thursdays all tickets are 60rmb except 3D, those are 70rmb. Popcorn is sweet.

Stand alone building with lots of marble flooring and a grand staircase. Regular price tickets are between 80 and 9ormb depending on whether it's peek time, student price tickets are 40 or 50rmb. Tuesday and Wednesday tickets are half price. Sweet popcorn only.

This cinema in Grand Gateway, has eleven screening rooms. No IMAX, but they do have stadium seating (their largest room holds 350), appropriately large screens and good surround sound. Their VIP theater is the smallest with only 32 seats, the seats are leather and recline. Welcome to first class. Tickets are 50rmb in the afternoon, 100rmb during prime-time (late afternoon and evening). 3D tickets...

A little hard to find, this cinema is two floors above the US Consulate's US Citizen Services office in WestGate Mall. In a stroke of genius, the ticket booth and concession stand share space with a Costa Coffee. Tickets are reasonable during the afternoon hours when seeing a movie isn't popular and 110rmb in the evening. 3D tickets are a rip-off at 120rmb.

Showing educational films and documentaries, the cinema is inside the Science and Technology Museum. Tickets run from 20-40rmb.

The cinema for the Shanghai Film Festival. It's connected to a City Shop, Starbucks and Ice Season. Lots of marble flooring and massive screens. Sound is decent, though is often interrupted by people on cell phones. Monday and Tuesday tickets are half price. Popcorn is sweet.
